Making A Difference In The Community
Each day across America people are helping people to read and write by creating a variety of unique community programs. These programs are grassroots programs started by someone who chose to make a difference. Getting Involved highlights and celebrates those innovative and successful programs that focus on education and literacy.
Many of these programs survive today, with the leaders not only focused on those who need help, but in spending much of their time raising funds to keep their good work alive. Verizon is using this forum to highlight community literacy program's so that other's can be inspired and encouraged to create programs in their communities.
Experts agree that reading plays an important role in one's ability to learn and to be successful in life. Verizon SuperPages is proud to help provide children and families with the tools they need for a bright future. In the past year, Verizon SuperPages has provided financial support, donated volunteer hours and nearly 250,000 books to children and families throughout the United States.
